“We might not be able to send BBQ to our soldiers, but we can send them the next best thing with our Mesquite Country All Purpose Seasoning” says Lana Claybrook, owner of Mesquite Country Seasoning (www.mesquitecountryseasoning.com).
For over a year, Claybrook has been mailing Mesquite Country Seasoning to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Feedback from the troops has been positive. After one shipment mailed to Iraq, Claybrook received this email from the mother of a Marine. “I am writing to you with a very thankful heart. My son and his platoon received their box of Mesquite Country Seasoning. He was thrilled beyond words…he explained to his men (who were not from Texas) what Mesquite was and about our wonderful traditions of Texas seasoning. He asked me to tell you how much they appreciated the “taste of Texas” and the support and thoughtfulness toward the troops”.
“I’m sure that the MRE’s probably taste better than the old K-rations, but anything issued in a package can’t have all that much taste”, explains Claybrook. Mesquite Country Seasoning is a unique blend of salt, pepper, chili, garlic and other spices. Only all natural ingredients are used. No MSG, sugar, or glutens are in the ingredients.
While this started out as Claybrook’s personal way to support the American troops, she has been continually asked how other people could send Mesquite Country Seasoning to soldiers overseas. In response, Mesquite Country Seasoning has created a special issue to honor the American forces. The “Operation: Make MRE’s Taste Better” bottle is lightweight plastic so it can be conveniently carried and used whether in the field or in the mess hall. Each bottle contains approximately 128 servings. In addition, a special $1 discount is being given on any bottle ordered before June 14, 2009. Just type the word “soldier” into the promotional coupon blank on the order form and $1 will be subtracted from the order.
